It was 2006 and I found myself in a Reiki Level 1 Certification program at my yoga studio. I only attended the program because I was in a yoga teacher training program at the same studio and I thought I might as well take the Reiki training because it kind of goes along with yoga. I didn’t put much thought into what I was doing and I had no expectations.
I showed up for class and there were eight of us together in a room. The teacher explained what Reiki was, gave us the history and told us what we might experience after this thing called “attunement”. I listened but it was going over my head. Right before it was time to set up to do this thing called “attunement” this rush of fear came over me. Then the teacher started her process and we were all sitting there with eyes closed in our special space and I started to feel light and relaxed. I got beautiful images in my head and everything felt so peaceful. I started to cry with happiness. Everything was different from that point on. I did go through a healing process and it was challenging at times. I continued to get private Reiki sessions with local practitioners and took good care of myself. I allowed those who cared about me to support me. My body felt light, relaxed and even more flexible. The heaviness and tightness went away. I felt happier and enjoyed healthier foods without even trying to be healthy. I had better interactions with other people. Most importantly my anxiety disappeared. I became clear about what I wanted to do in life and moved forward. I’m now a Wellness Coach, Reiki Master Teacher, Certified Yoga Instructor, Laughter Yoga Leader and I do this full time. I’ve done thousands of Reiki Sessions on clients and here’s what some of them had to say about their experience. “I felt wonderful, peaceful, relaxed and light. So light! I feel like I lost 20lbs. It’s so relaxing” – L.R – New Jersey “It helps me get internally organized” – N.T. – Quincy, MA “I had great sleep after the session and was also very clear in my head for the whole week. Felt fantastic after the session. I definitely see myself having more sessions” - A.F. - Ireland I encourage you to find a healing modality that works for you. There are many wonderful practitioners and healers. It’s just a matter of finding the right one for you.

It fascinates me how almost or maybe all of us use disempowering language in our everyday life. We use words like “I’m trying to”. I’m trying to lose weight, I’m trying to reach my goal, I’m trying to find work/life balance etc.
If you want to get to the 7th floor are you going to stay on the first floor saying “I’m trying to get to the 7th floor” or are you going to get on the elevator and ...push the button for the 7th floor? It’s the same with your goals/dreams/desires. Do you find yourself saying “I’m trying” when it comes to creating what you want or are you making commitments and taking inspired action? As a coach I help my clients listen to what they say and teach them to use more empowering language that gets results. Today I invite you to listen to your words. See where “I’m trying to” shows up for you. Let me know how it goes. Epsom salt is a pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Epsom salt has numerous health benefits as well as many beauty, household and gardening related uses. Studies have shown that magnesium and sulfate are both readily absorbed through the skin. Epsom salts baths are an easy and ideal way to enjoy amazing health benefits from this mineral. Magnesium plays a number of roles in the body including regulating the activity of some enzymes, reducing inflammation, helping muscles and nerve function and helping to prevent artery hardening. Sulfates help improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins and help ease migraine headaches. Some Health Benefits of Epsom Salts
If you don’t have a bath, then create a foot bath and soak your feet. Enjoy your Epsom Salts Bath! If you stop to think about it, I bet you could see how you do take better care of your car (if you have one). Most of us like to change the oil, put good gas in the car, clean inside and out. But, with our body we are not as conscious. The fuel or food we sometimes put in our body may not be the best for us, we don't always clean up inside, meaning we hang onto to such things as anger, resentment, regret etc. We allow stress to consume us which causes us to get old, sick and rusty. I invite you to think about how you can keep your body bright and shiny today. Have an great day! |
